In its upper reaches the river flows through mountain tundra and marshlands. In the area of the Opala Volcano cauldron there are high grasslands and willow forests in the valley. On the slopes there are stone birch and elfin wood. The rafting is technically not complicated and gives great pleasure. On the first half of the rafting route there is a nice view on the Opala Volcano and its cauldron; on the third-forth day of rafting there are some rapids. Opalinskie cold mineral springs (''narzans'') are situated close to the rapids. Their outflows are along the left bank over a distance of 100 meters. Numbers of mineral brooks are flowing down from a height of 6 meters, painting the river bank in red-brown colour.

Fish species in September:

Chum Salmon – in spawning holes, in practice it can’t be fished.

Silver Salmon – ascending to the spawning sites, spinning and fly-fishing possible

Malma – along the whole river in rapids, side-streams and tributaries, can be fished by all possible means.

Rainbow Trout – small specimen together with Malma in rapids and ripples, bigger ones are standing in pits behind stones and underwater obstacles.

East-Siberian Char – coming into the river, can be fished together with Rainbow Trout

Grayling – everywhere in the upper and middle reach.

Day 10: End of rafting in the lower reach of Opala River. Drive on a 6WD bus to Paratunka (about 12 hrs), dinner and overnight at the hotel.
